DHS – Design Home Solution, PILOT PROJECT

To prove the DHS concept, mHS is acting as a project manager, bringing in strategic as well as a technical expertise.

mHS in March 2010 has entered into a strategic partnership with BASIX to implement the DHS in the first pilot project site: Mangolpuri. Later in June, we extended the partnership with Baliga Trust, NGO working in the area since 30 years as the community interface for the project.

Mangolpuri is a resettlement colony that started in 1976 when government relocated people from different illegal slum in Delhi. Today over 100000 people are living in Mangolpuri.

Currently structures in the area are extremely unsafe and precarious. Often Built on single bricks wall, they are up to G+2 and ½ floors. Different configurations are present in the area, but even new construction in RCC is still very poor and they don’t offer a acceptable security in case of earthquake. This is mostly due to the lack of design and execution in the building process.
